Whiskey in America has many varieties. Bourbons and the Tennessee whiskey made famous by Jack Daniels are just two.
A step up on the original No7, this is put through the same sugar maple charcoal filter as the original, but twice, as opposed to once, this process is called “double mellowed”. It’s a tad softer, with all the original flavour. A nice and soft whiskey.
This is my favourite of the entry-level bourbon whiskies. This has the usual sweet, toffee, and vanilla flavours you’d expect from a Bourbon, but I like the tobacco note, it adds a complexity that tips it off. Give it a try, and see what you think.
Sticking with Jack Daniels, for another variety of whiskey from across the pond, try the Jack Daniels Rye whiskey. The Single Barrel Select is worth the difference in price in my opinion, a really nice, very sweet whiskey with a bit of class.
Anything from Balcones, anything. The Texas Single Malt is delicious, the maltiest of the maltiest, but exceptionally sweet too. All the others are great too, this distillery is really good, everything they do works really well in my opinion.
