LIGHT WHISKIES

This is a category for those looking to dip a toe as opposed to cliff-dive into the world of whisky. These two are still tasty, but they are not overpowering, rich or smokey.

Auchentoshan American Oak

Auchentoshan is known in the whisky trade as “breakfast whisky” because it is so easy to drink, and the American Oak is the easiest of the lot.

It’s got nice soft flavours of vanilla, coconut and toffee, and the texture is smooth and light. It was the first whisky that caught me many moons ago, yet, despite having tried far more robust and complex whiskies, I still love this one as a “sipper”.

Glenmorangie 10-Year-Old

Glenmorangie has a Giraffe logo, pointing toward their stills, the tallest in Scotland.

Glenmorangie say these stills make their whisky the smoothest, I’ve tried a good few and they are all ridiculously smooth, this one is a good example. With notes of vanilla, toffee, fruits and honey, it’s far from boring as well.
